About Transforming Educator Development & Evaluation

This workshop introduces a comprehensive and holistic framework for transforming educator support systems: integrating well-being, growth, and evaluation with equity as the foundation.

Using the metaphor of an ecosystem, school leaders will learn practical strategies for generating a vision for equity, supporting collective and individual well-being, identifying ways to support educators in their professional growth, and reimagining evaluation to sustain the ecosystem.

Through practical tools, research-informed practices, and case study examples, participants will be able to generate action steps for addressing these foundations—and develop a pathway for more cohesive and equitable educator support systems.

Intended outcomes:

✔︎ DEFINE and ENVISION what it means to support educator well-being and growth—especially your own

✔︎ EXPLORE how to utilize components, approaches, and skills of coaching to support educator well-being

✔︎ PRACTICE increasing emotional intelligence through facilitated activities and role play

✔︎ ASSESS your well-being and make a plan for continued growth

We will consider the following questions for each element of the framework:

    • What does equity look and sound like in practice?

    • What conditions need to be in place to support educators thriving in an equity-centered environment?

    • What do leaders need to know and practice to foster equity?

    • What does an educator need to be fully affirmed in their dignity, experience, and professional practice?

    • What conditions need to be in place to support educators' well-being?

    • What do leaders need to know and practice to foster well-being?

    • How might leaders support educator growth in ways that are equitable, differentiated, and personalized in support of well-being?

    • What structures will promote growth?

    • How do leaders model their own growth and promote a culture of learning?

    • What is the model of evaluation that is aligned with equity, well-being, and growth?

    • What will be the measures of effectiveness?

    • How will evaluators be prepared for the process?

    • How will leaders tend to the ecosystem of their sites, including their own evaluation?

Using culturally responsive school leadership principles, participants will take a landscape assessment of their school/district to identify areas of focus. We will then develop strategies to reimagine assessment of teacher practice.
